My name is Sanna Vartiainen, I’m a 24-year-old student from Jyväskylä. I grew up in Rovaniemi and I’m very proud of my hometown. Rovaniemi is a beautiful city in the Northern Finland. It is also a place I hope to return some day.

Here I am pictured with the one and only (original) Santa Claus from the Arctic Circle with two French boys Int & Multi Ch B-Mac’s Treasure Island and Ch Very Vigie Van Damme.

My studies have brought me to Middle Finland. At the moment I’m studying for Civic Activities and Youth Work Degree Programme in Humanisties Polytechnick in Suolahti. The kids and youth work are close to my heart and I hope to work with youngsters in the future. At the moment, for example, I am involved in the Finnish Kennel Club’s youth workshop and some other posts concerning youth work.

Dogs and this hobby have been a big part of my life, ever since I got my first dog as a 10-year-old girl. My Golden Retriever Dora was truly a golden friend and also a dog you only get to have once in your life. She was not a show dog, but mostly my best friend for all those years that we grew up together. Dora taught me a lot and got me involved in the dog world – the path I’m still on.

Throughout the years I have been involved in several dog sports, but one is above all – the dog shows. I got my first show dog, americancockerspaniel BIS-winner Int, Nord, Fin, S, N, Balt, Est, Lv, Ltu Ch Marvellous Solid Design, in 2001 and since that I have been in love with this silly yet charming breed.

My second cocker was Fin, S, Ltu Ch BaltW-05 Little Life Golden Eye and the next one triple winning show cocker of the year BIS-winner, Int, Nord, Fin, S, N, Balt, Est, Lv, Ltu, Pl, Dk Ch BaltW-05, LVW-06 Truly Yours Magic Trilogy.

Nowadays I´m also a proud co-owner of BIS-winner Int, Nord, Fin, S, N, Dk, Balt, Est, Lv, Ltu Ch BaltW-07, NorwW-07, FinW-07, LtuW-08 Krismyth Punch Adams who was top winning american cocker in Finland 2007 and also #12 at All Breeds-list. The youngest hope is already BIS-winner, Balt, Est, Lv, Ltu JCh LtuJW-08 Statesman You Got It. You can find more info about my own cockers and special visitors under Dogs.

I have been fascinated by many breeds during these years and I’m also very interested in grooming different kinds of breeds. This interest has led me to work under business name “grooming service Sanna Vartiainen”.

I guess this interest in dog world has become more of a way of life than just a hobby. During these years many valuable friendships have formed both dog and human. I would like to thank Outi Heikkinen, kennel Little Life, for all the help she gave me when I started with cockers. I would also like to thank everyone who has encouraged me to move forward with this hobby. The most sincere acknowledgements go to my parents for all their patience and understanding at the early days osf this wonderful hobby of mine.
